FIELDS is built with privacy as a foundational principle. We believe personal travel memories belong to you. We do not require account registration, passwords, or personal profile creation. Your journal entries and generated posters are stored locally on your device.
When you choose to create a field note, your selected photo is securely transmitted to our backend server for the sole purpose of generating your travel scrapbook poster and extracting sensory memory keywords.
To enforce our free usage allowance (2 free starter notes and 1 ad-supported note) without requiring user accounts or logins, the app generates a randomized, anonymous installation identifier and reads a non-personal device identifier. This is used strictly to prevent automated service abuse and manage purchased note credit balances.
FIELDS reads camera and photo capture metadata (EXIF GPS coordinates and capture timestamps) directly on your device to automatically detect travel locations (e.g. city and region) and the year taken. Location data is never used to track your physical movement or sold to any third party.
You have complete control over your data. You can delete all locally saved notes, posters, and preferences at any time directly within the app under Settings → Reset Notebook.
